Messi event fiasco: Calcutta High Court refuses to interfere in SIT probe
The Calcutta High Court declined to intervene in a probe by the special investigation team (SIT) into chaos surrounding Argentine football legend Lionel Messi's event at Salt Lake stadium. The court ruled that the investigation is in its preliminary stage and no evidence exists to suggest it is vitiated or polluted. The petitioners, including Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, sought a transfer of the investigation to the CBI and a refund for ticket prices. The court directed the state government and event organizers to file affidavits in opposition and set a hearing date for February 16th.
