Malkangiri, the southernmost Assembly segment of Odisha, saw the highest voter deletions during the first phase of a special intensive revision (SIR), with 27,653 voters removed. This constituted 10.96% of the total electorate and is attributed to a large number of settlers from Bangladesh who migrated in the early 1950s and mid-1980s. The Odisha government has published a draft report of the SIR, which saw over 20 lakh voters deleted across the state.
