Saugata Roy, a senior TMC MP, wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seeking his intervention to ensure the safety of MPs in their constituencies following an alleged attack on Mahua Moitra, another TMC MP. Roy claims that Moitra was attacked while visiting her constituency in West Bengal and that police remained silent spectators despite her reporting the incident. Roy also contacted a Lok Sabha official attached to the Speaker's office and has previously written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
