Demand for Kittur Karnataka Development Board grows louder
Karnataka legislators from the Kittur Karnataka region are pushing for a development board mirroring the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB), citing economic and human development disparities. They demand an annual grant of ₹5,000 crore to address the region's needs, arguing that it lags behind other areas in terms of per capita income and industrial development. The petition, signed by all MLAs except for eight ministers from the region, was submitted to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during the Winter Session. The demand is likely to be addressed by the State-level Regional Imbalance Redressal Committee's report due in January 2026.
