CBI arrests IAS official in Haryana govt. funds misappropriation case
Misappropriation of public funds by a high-ranking official is a serious abuse of power.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) official, Pardeep Kumar, for allegedly misappropriating ₹169 crore in government funds from the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB). The agency alleges that Kumar diverted funds from the HSPCB account at IDFC First Bank to create fraudulent fixed deposits and then used these funds for unauthorized transactions. The CBI has filed charge-sheets against 17 individuals, including bank officials and public servants, in connection with this case, which is part of a larger banking fraud at the Sector-32 branch of IDFC First Bank.
