Akal Takht, the highest Sikh temporal seat, has called on the AAP government in Punjab to revise the recently enacted "Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment), Act 2026" due to its lack of consultation with the SGPC. The Akal Takht convened a meeting in Amritsar where Sikh Cabinet Ministers and MLAs, including representatives from various political parties, participated. Jathedar Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj urged the government to amend the law within a month to reflect Sikh sentiments and remove objectionable clauses.
