Calcutta HC again denies urgent hearing of Abhishek Banerjee’s plea to travel abroad

The Calcutta High Court again denied an urgent hearing for a petition filed by Abhishek Banerjee, Trinamool Congress national general secretary, seeking to relax an order barring him from traveling abroad for treatment. Banerjee had requested permission for a seven-day trip outside of India for the specialized treatment of his eye injury sustained in 2016. The court stated that the treatment can be provided domestically and there is no need for an urgent hearing given the numerous legal cases against Banerjee.
