Akal Takht asks Punjab govt. to revise anti-sacrilege law, remove clauses contrary to Sikh sentiments

The Akal Takht, the highest Sikh temporal authority, has requested the Punjab government to re-amend the recently passed anti-sacrilege amendment law. The Akal Takht expressed dissatisfaction with certain clauses of the legislation and urged the government to incorporate Sikh sentiments and eliminate objectionable provisions within a month. The meeting, attended by Sikh Ministers and MLAs, revealed that many legislators had not read the draft before passing the law, highlighting concerns about rushed decision-making.
