Owaisi stands his ground on passport remarks

Asaduddin Owaisi, president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), questioned the government's decision to issue certificates to those included in the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam. He challenged the claim that passports are not conclusive proof of citizenship, citing the Supreme Court's stance and questioning the rationale behind issuing certificates to individuals excluded from the NRC. G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister, responded by stating that passports do not confirm citizenship but are governed by the Constitution and Citizenship Act, 1955.
