Chandrababu Naidu sets Swachh targets, says Andhra Pradesh will be plastic-free by June next and roads garbage-free by January 26

N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, announced ambitious plans for waste management and development during a program in Anakapalli district. He set a target of making roads garbage-free by January 26, 2024, and urged people to make the state plastic-free by June 2026. He also inaugurated "Swachh Rathams" for waste exchange and visited a composting unit. Naidu highlighted the government's efforts in recycling waste through circular economy policies and plans to increase the number of Swachh Rathams to 100, aiming to reach 5 lakh home composters in urban areas and 10 lakh in rural areas by March 26, 2024. He also spoke about Anakapalli's development into an industrial hub and plans for infrastructure projects like the Polavaram water supply and linking the Godavari and Vamsadhara rivers.
