Economist decries scrapping of MGNREGA by Centre
Economist Prabhat Patnaik criticized the BJP-led government's decision to abandon the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), arguing that it denies workers their "demand-based" right to work. Patnaik also advocated for wealth tax and inheritance tax to finance constitutionally guaranteed fundamental economic rights for citizens.
