Alleged bribery attempt to influence a police investigation involving a Chief Minister raises serious concerns.
Two men, Arun Mahendru and Ankit Bhardwaj, were remanded in eight days' police custody by a Gurgaon court after being arrested for allegedly attempting to bribe a man named Jaspreet Singh with Rs 10 lakh to provide a false report on a video of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The Gurgaon Police are investigating the bribery allegation and have not yet identified the two Punjab Police officers who are accused of paying the bribe. The police are examining CCTV footage from a five-star hotel in Gurgaon where the two officers allegedly stayed with Jaspreet Singh on June 15 and 16, but they have not contacted the Punjab Police to assist with the investigation. The Akal Takht, a Sikh religious body, has declared the video clip "authentic" and stated that Mann is against the Gurus and the Panth.
