Following the collapse of a warehouse in Kolkata, killing at least five workers, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari ordered a suspension of all under-construction commercial projects in the city until July 31st. Adhikari cited a faulty building plan sanctioned by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) as the likely cause of the collapse and announced a citywide audit and on-site inspections of all under-construction projects. He also praised the response of emergency services, including the Army, which was called in to assist with rescue efforts. The chief minister has requested a detailed report on the incident and plans to address the issue in the state assembly.
