After Roof Collapse Deaths, Bengal Halts All Construction Approved By Trinamool
Suvendu Adhikari, West Bengal Chief Minister, suspended all construction work on commercial projects approved by the previous TMC government following a warehouse collapse that killed five people. Adhikari ordered a comprehensive audit of these projects and announced a multi-agency team will examine site plans, building plans, and conduct spot inspections before submitting a report. The chief minister also stated that construction related to essential services like hospitals and fire brigade infrastructure would not be affected by the suspension order. Adhikari said he believes the collapse was not caused by heavy rainfall or soil conditions, but rather due to flaws in the building plan.
