Trinamool bank accounts frozen after party rebels write to police

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leadership is facing a financial crisis after three party accounts were frozen by a bank in Kolkata. The bank informed the police that a "debit freeze" was placed on the accounts, which hold ₹440 crore. The move follows complaints from 10 rebel MLAs aligned with the Leader of the Opposition, Ritabrata Banerjee, alleging illegal financial activities and misuse of funds. Aroop Biswas, former party treasurer, had written to the bank demanding a halt to transactions but it is unclear if he consulted Mamata Banerjee or Abhishek Banerjee.
