Pinarayi Vijayan, leader of the Opposition, criticized the Kerala government's decision to lower tax rates for low-alcohol beverages, claiming it benefits liquor companies at the expense of public health. He argued that lowering taxes could lead to increased consumption and questioned the government's focus on this sector while neglecting other important items. The CPI State secretary, Binoy Viswam, also called for a review of the decision, alleging it is a misuse of the previous LDF government's policy aimed at supporting farmers.
