Kerala Revised Budget: Infrastructure projects in Kochi receive scant allocation

The revised Kerala State Budget for 2026-27 allocated only ₹1 crore for infrastructure development in Kochi, focusing primarily on the Goshree–Bolgatty Parallel Bridge and Goshree–Mamangalam Road. While the budget mentions proposals for various road projects and a parallel railway overbridge at Kalamassery, it lacks specific funding for the Kochi Metro Rail project or its expansion plans. The Kochi Metro Rail Limited welcomed the ₹20 crore allocation for Light Metro projects in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode but expressed disappointment over the lack of funds for the Kochi Metro. The budget was met with criticism from various political parties, including the CPI(M) who accused the government of neglecting key infrastructure projects like the Angamaly-Erumely Sabari rail project.
