Rs 13 Lakh Crore Debt Burden On Tamil Nadu: White Paper By TVK Government

The report estimates that Tamil Nadu's true debt burden is Rs 13.18 lakh crore, driven by rising debt, high interest payments, and revenue deficits. The government attributes these issues to structural weaknesses in its finances, including inefficiencies within state-run enterprises and a declining tax base. Despite the grim assessment, Tamil Nadu's government insists it can address these challenges without imposing new taxes through improved revenue mobilization and reforms.
