Asaduddin Owaisi, president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), launched his party's campaign for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections from Bahraich. He called for the creation of an independent political leadership for Muslims and other marginalized communities. Owaisi criticized the Samajwadi Party’s local leadership in the area and claimed AIMIM would significantly alter the political landscape in both Bahraich and UP. He also appealed to voters to support AIMIM rather than relying on leaders from larger parties, arguing that political empowerment is essential for securing social and economic justice. Owaisi stated that AIMIM is willing to partner with others to challenge the BJP but emphasized the need for respect and meaningful participation in any alliance.
