Kerala Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan writes to META seeking preservation of controversial Ayyappa parody song on social media platforms

The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has criticized the Kerala Police for requesting social media platforms to remove a satirical song parodying the Sabarimala gold theft case. UDF leader, Satheesan, argued that the government's request violates constitutional rights to freedom of speech and expression, as no court has ordered its removal. The dispute escalated after the CPI(M) endorsed the complaint from an organization associated with the Sabarimala temple tradition, accusing the UDF of using the song for political gain. The Thiruvananthapuram Cyber Police have yet to name any accused but are investigating the creators and broadcasters for creating enmity and outraging religious symbols.
