Congress on reduction in number of subsidised Ujjwala refills

The Congress criticized the government's reduction of subsidized LPG refills under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, accusing it of "crocodile tears" and prioritizing power over poverty alleviation. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge highlighted the program's dwindling benefits, from 12 subsidized refills to just 4, while criticizing the government for increasing LPG prices despite claiming affordability. The Government, however, defended its actions, stating that Indian households still pay among the lowest global cooking gas prices despite international price hikes.
