Messi fiasco in Kolkata: Abhishek Banerjee defends West Bengal CM Mamata, government

Abhishek Banerjee, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, and members of the Trinamool Congress have criticized the chaos that occurred at the Lionel Messi event in Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium. Mr. Banerjee defended Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s apology for the incident, stating it was an example of leadership and acknowledging government negligence. Adhikari, who was prevented from entering the stadium to assess the damage, demanded an independent investigation into the financial irregularities surrounding ticket sales and vandalism. The four-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) is investigating the role of event organizer Satadru Dutta and those responsible for the stadium's destruction. Aroop Biswas, the Bengal Sports Minister, resigned over the incident.
