India, Myanmar Vow Deeper Ties On Security, Trade And Connectivity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing met in New Delhi, where they pledged deeper cooperation in security, trade, and infrastructure. Modi positioned Myanmar as a key partner in India's foreign policy initiatives, including Neighbourhood First, Act East, and MAHASAGAR. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity, while also emphasizing the importance of preventing misuse of sovereign territory for activities threatening national security. The visit included discussions on connectivity projects like the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport project and the India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway, as well as trade facilitation and people-to-people initiatives. Modi announced an expansion of scholarships for Myanmar students, while Min Aung Hlaing offered prayers at Buddhist sites in Bodh Gaya.
