Karnataka Politics Highlights: DK Shivakumar Meets Governor, Stakes Claim As Chief Minister

DK Shivakumar has been elected as the new leader of the Karnataka Congress Legislature Party. He will formally stake his claim to form the government and take the oath on June 3rd. The decision was made after a crucial meeting at Vidhana Soudha, where Siddaramaiah proposed Shivakumar's name for the post. The new Chief Minister is expected to meet with Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot to formally request his appointment. A power-sharing arrangement involving a Dalit and minority community leader as deputy chief ministers is being considered by the party leadership. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Glass House of Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru.
