Rajya Sabha clears additional allocation for fertilizer subsidy

The Rajya Sabha approved the first batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants, authorizing an additional ₹1.32 lakh crore in spending for 2025-26. The allocation includes over ₹18,000 crore for fertilizer subsidy and ₹9,500 crore to compensate oil marketing companies for under-recoveries. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary stated that the government is focused on fiscal consolidation while ensuring allocations to states have increased during the Narendra Modi regime. Opposition MPs criticized the allocation, arguing it was insufficient despite an extra ₹1.32 lakh crore being allocated.
