Minister Agnimitra Paul stated that those responsible for illegal construction will face consequences. The crackdown has led to arrests of several local leaders, including a TMC councillor's husband and another leader accused of extortion. The TMC is facing internal turmoil with many councillors resigning and party members being arrested.
