Three AIADMK MLAs resign from posts in Tamil Nadu, join TVK
Three AIADMK MLAs from the S.P. Velumani faction resigned from the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and joined the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). The resignations were accepted by Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar, reducing the AIADMK's strength in the assembly to 44. Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the AIADMK general secretary, condemned what he called "vulgar politics" and "horse trading" by the TVK government. He stated that any attempts to defeat or replace the AIADMK would be futile. The three MLAs claimed their decision was motivated by the interests of their constituents and not by personal gain.
