Make introspection to check if minority votes drifted away from LDF: CPI
The Communist Party of India (CPI) called for introspection within the Left Democratic Front (LDF) regarding the loss of minority votes in recent local body elections. The CPI suggested that ideological clarity and a stronger secular image could have resonated more with minorities, especially given the rise of Hindu nationalist forces. However, the CPI also noted that the LDF's battles against the Union government on fiscal federalism and minority rights did not resonate with voters as expected. Despite the loss in some areas, the CPI believes the LDF is far from a spent political force and will recover lost ground in future elections.
