Trinamool leaders face arrests, public anger, return extorted money
Arrests for extortion and corruption suggest potential abuse of power and institutional failure.
Trinamool Congress leaders across West Bengal have been arrested on charges of extortion, corruption, and violence since the change of regime. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari urged citizens to report alleged extortion during the previous regime. Arrests include panchayat pradhan Anjali Dalui and her husband Tarun Dalui in Howrah district, as well as Saddam Sheikh, a trade union leader, and Raju Panrui, a councillor. The police have also recovered numerous EPIC cards, Aadhaar cards, and other documents from various locations.
