West Bengal committed to handover land to BSF within 45 days for border fencing: Minister
Ashok Kirtania, the West Bengal minister of Food and Supply, stated that the state government is committed to handing over land to the Border Security Force (BSF) within 45 days for the erection of a fence along the Bangladesh border. Mr. Kirtania visited his constituency to review progress on land acquisition and assess ground-level developments with BSF officials. While most areas in North 24 Parganas district are progressing well, he noted resistance in Basirhat due to residents refusing to move from the fencing area and families being unwilling to relocate. The newly elected BJP government, led by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, authorized the transfer of approximately 600 acres to the BSF for border fencing with a 45-day deadline.
