
BJP, Congress attack SP over party spokesperson’s remark on Brahmins; FIR registered
Rajkumar Bhati, a spokesperson for the Samajwadi Party, faced backlash after a video surfaced showing him making derogatory remarks against the Brahmin community. Pankaj Chaudhary, the state BJP president and Union Minister, condemned the comments as "indecent" and said they reflected the SP's "divide and rule" mentality. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak called the remarks "disgusting" and a reflection of the SP's character. Ajay Rai, the state Congress chief, demanded disciplinary action against Bhati and an apology from Akhilesh Yadavji, the SP chief. A case was filed against Bhati under Section 196(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for allegedly promoting enmity between groups on grounds of religion.
