AIADMK rebel MLAs to back TVK in Tamil Nadu floor test
C. Joseph Vijay, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, called on rebel AIADMK leaders S.P. Velumani and C.Ve. Shanmugam ahead of a floor test in the state Assembly. The rebels declared Velumani as the "AIADMK Legislature Party leader" but Edappadi K. Palaniswami, the AIADMK general secretary, claimed he was the leader. O.S. Manian, a senior leader supporting Palaniswami, stated that all 47 AIADMK legislators had signed a letter electing Palaniswami as the Legislature Party leader and that the rebels were attempting to lure MLAs. The rebels, who have accused Palaniswami of collaborating with the DMK, are seeking ministerial positions.
