
EAM Jaishankar hands over India-assisted agro-processing facility in South Trinidad
S. Jaishankar, India's External Affairs Minister, handed over an agro-processing facility in South Trinidad to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Saturday, May 9, 2026. The facility is part of the SEEDS (Supply of Equipment for Efficient Development of SMEs) initiative aimed at promoting sustainable economic growth in the Global South. Jaishankar also visited Nelson Island to commemorate the arrival of the first Indian immigrants, known as Girmitiyas, in 1845 and discussed new ideas for expanding bilateral cooperation between India and Trinidad and Tobago with Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar.
