Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: P. Rajeeve fails to survive anti-incumbency wave in Kalamassery

V.E. Abdul Gafoor, of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), won the Kalamassery constituency seat in Kerala, defeating outgoing Industries Minister P. Rajeeve of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)]. Gafoor secured a significant victory with 80,606 votes compared to Rajeeve's 64,294. The LDF, which had pinned its hopes on Rajeeve's performance as a minister, suffered setbacks across several municipalities in the region. Rajeeve conceded defeat and acknowledged the anti-incumbency wave affecting the Left camp.
