66% turnout for civic polls as people brave heat to vote in Gujarat

Voter turnout in the Gujarat local body elections ranged from 45% to 66%, with Amit Shah and Bhupendra Patel casting their votes. The elections, held under revised norms for OBC reservations, saw a higher turnout in taluka panchayats (65.91%) and district panchayats (65.40%) compared to municipal corporations, including Ahmedabad (45.35%). The BJP, Congress, AAP, and AIMIM are the main contenders in the elections, which will be followed by counting on April 28th. Three deaths occurred during the voting process, including an AAP candidate and a panchayat staffer.
