
Rahul Gandhi plans Great Nicobar visit, clearance awaited
Rahul Gandhi, leader of the Opposition, began a three-day visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands for a Congress convention in Port Blair. He is scheduled to also visit Great Nicobar Island where the Union government plans a large infrastructure project that has raised concerns among tribal communities about displacement and loss of rights over their forests. Manickam Tagore, Congress in-charge of the islands, said Gandhi assured the people in Port Blair he would continue to fight for their rights in Delhi.
