March to Manipur CM’s house foiled; 22 injured
Clashes with security forces injuring protesters over a bombing is a serious concern.
More than 20 people were injured in clashes between protesters and security personnel in Imphal, Manipur, on Saturday (April 25, 2026). The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), a conglomerate of Meitei civil society organizations, organized the protest demanding the arrest of those involved in the April 7 bomb attack that killed two children. COCOMI had previously announced a boycott of the ruling BJP and held a rally near the iconic Kangla Fort before meeting with the Chief Minister to submit a memorandum. The incident followed the death of three protesters in Bishnupur, which triggered the protest. In Ukhrul district, an armored vehicle from a paramilitary force rammed barricades set up by locals protesting against inaction against Kuki armed groups.
