Swati Maliwal, a former AAP MP, accused her former party of changing its principles and becoming corrupt under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal. She claimed that she was pressured to withdraw an assault complaint against Kejriwal's aide and that more leaders would leave the party. Maliwal joined the BJP after alleging that Kejriwal has become a "common man" who built lavish lifestyles while running the Punjab government through "remote control." Sanjay Singh, an AAP leader, said the party will seek disqualification of the seven defectors from the Rajya Sabha.
