DMK has announced its list of 164 candidates for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, denying seats to former Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudi, Handloom and Textiles Minister R. Gandhi, Dairy Development Minister Mano Thangaraj, and Human Resources Management Minister Kayalvizhi Selvaraj. Ponmudi's son Gowtham Sigamani has been chosen to represent Tirukoilur, while Gandhi's son Vinod is contesting from Ranipet.
