Two Indian-origin men, Sampath Rajidi and Sreedhar Mada, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit H-1B visa fraud. They submitted false petitions to the USCIS, claiming they were hiring for the University of California, while knowing these positions did not exist. They then provided these fraudulent visas to other clients, gaining an unfair advantage over competing firms and depleting available H-1B visas. Both men face a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
