Sindh implements austerity measures, notifies early market closure among other steps - Pakistan

The Sindh government has implemented a new curfew for shops, markets, and shopping malls in Karachi and other divisional headquarters, closing them at 9pm throughout the week. This decision follows a federal government directive to close markets and shopping malls nationwide by 8pm as part of energy conservation measures. The order also exempts certain businesses such as fuel stations, bakeries, medical stores, and hotels from the curfew. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif previously announced these measures during a meeting on April 6th and has stated that consultations with stakeholders are underway to ensure smooth implementation.
