Assembly elections LIVE: Nominations to close for Tamil Nadu, Bengal phase-1 polls

Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal Chief Minister, urged voters to cast their ballots as a form of "revenge" against the deletion of names from electoral rolls. She called on those whose names were removed during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process to appeal before tribunals. Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, launched a name change initiative, while Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, accused him of claiming credit for Centrally funded projects.
