West Bengal election 2026: BJP will not project CM face in Bengal, will seek votes in Modi's name: Samik Bhattacharya

Samik Bhattacharya, the State BJP president, stated that the party has not decided on a Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections. Instead, the party will focus on campaigning under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his "development agenda". Bhattacharya emphasized that the BJP does not distinguish between "organic" and "inorganic" leaders and will allow the people to choose their preferred candidate after the election. He also outlined the party's priorities if it wins, including establishing law and order, preventing post-election violence, and creating a conducive environment for investment. Bhattacharya further stated that the BJP's policy on infiltration would be "detect, detain, deport". He also addressed allegations of imposing Hindi culture in West Bengal, stating that the party does not seek to impose any particular culture but instead aims to ensure peace and prosperity for all.
