Congress renominates 12 MLAs in its list of 27; Melur nominee yet to be decided

The Congress in Tamil Nadu announced its list of candidates for 27 out of 28 Assembly seats, retaining 12 sitting MLAs. K. Selvaperunthagai, the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president, and S. Rajeshkumar, the Congress Legislature Party leader, retained their seats in Sriperumbudur and Killiyoor respectively. The party faced criticism from S. Jothimani, a Congress MP, who accused the leadership of ignoring the sentiments of party cadres, particularly those from the Kongu Vellala Gounder and Arunthathiyar communities.
