Kerala Assembly polls 2026: CPI(M) expels K. P. Ramani after attending UDF convention in Taliparamba
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) expelled K.P. Ramani, a district-level leader and wife of rebel candidate T.K. Govindan, for attending an United Democratic Front convention in Taliparamba. The party cited violation of discipline during heightened political contest in the constituency. Ms. Ramani's attendance was seen as a show of support for her husband, who is contesting independently with Congress backing. This action follows Mr. Govindan's decision to sever ties with the CPI(M) after the party nominated P.K. Shyamala, wife of State secretary M.V. Govindan, as a candidate in Taliparamba.
