
Assembly Elections LIVE updates: ECI approves transfer of returning officers for West Bengal polls
The Election Commission of India approved the transfer and posting of returning officers for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, including for Bhabanipur, which is represented by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The BJP, a key constituent of the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu, has been allocated 27 seats for the election. The filing of nominations for the 30 assembly constituencies in the Union Territory of Puducherry concluded on Monday (March 23, 2026). The elections will be held in Assam, Kerala and the Union Territory of Puducherry on April 9, 2026, with the counting scheduled for May 4, 2026.
