CPI(M) and Congress leaders have accused each other of attempting to undermine the traditional Left Democratic Front (LDF)-United Democratic Front (UDF) duopoly in Kerala. V.D. Satheesan, leader of the opposition, alleged that the CPI(M) is aiding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by fielding an independent candidate in Palakkad to split minority votes. Ramesh Chennithala, a senior Congress leader, claimed this is just the tip of the iceberg and that the BJP has also influenced other constituencies through puppet candidates. Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala's chief minister, criticized the Congress for its alleged self-defeating strategies in Delhi and Haryana elections, suggesting it seeks to undermine the national alliance against the BJP.
