Kerala Assembly Elections 2026: LDF throws its weight behind IUML rebel in Mankada face-off with Ali
Kunath Mohammed, a former IUML leader, will challenge incumbent Manjalamkuzhi Ali for the Mankada Assembly seat as an Independent candidate backed by the Left Democratic Front (LDF). The decision comes after the CPI(M) withdrew its initial candidate, M.P. Alavi, and extended support to Mohammed. Alavi accused Ali of betraying the party in 2010 and expressed a desire to counter Ali's influence. The seat has been held by the IUML since 2011.
