Bypoll: BJP candidates richer than Congress candidates
BJP candidates in the Bagalkot and Davangere South byelections have significantly higher assets than their Congress counterparts, according to affidavits filed with their nomination papers. Veerabhadrayya Chandrashekarayya Charantimath, the BJP candidate from Bagalkot, reported assets of around ₹17.3 crore while his opponent, Umesh Meti, has assets worth ₹8.65 crore. In Davangere South, Samarth Shamanur Mallikarjun and Srinivas T. Dasakariyappa, the respective candidates from Congress and BJP, have assets of over ₹4.25 crore and ₹5.76 crore respectively.
