Kerala Assembly Polls 2026: Karat Razak returns to IUML, vows to make up for 10 years’ loss

Karat Razak, a former IUML leader who contested as an Independent in 2016, rejoined the party on Sunday after being received by Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal, the IUML State president. Razak cited his past experiences with the CPI(M) and the LDF, stating that he felt abandoned after his 2016 victory as an Independent MLA. He expressed confidence in the party's leadership and pledged to work harder for its future success. P.K. Kunhalikutty, the IUML national general secretary, welcomed Razak's return, noting a "reverse flow" of leaders from the CPI(M) back to the IUML.
